| General Information
PCR analysis of short tandem
repeat (STR) loci is one of the newest technologies available for
routine DNA paternity testing. It can conclusively determine parentage (>99.99%, CPI>10000)
and non-parentage (0% probability of paternity).
Usage
Determination of parentage for child support,
legal proceedings, and Vital Statistics (birth certificates).
Age limit
DNA testing can be performed on patients at any age.

Prenatal Testing: Chorionic
Villus Sampling, Amniocentesis. Please ensure that an appointment
for prenatal sampling can be arranged with an obstetrician prior
to ordering DNA test. |

Testing at Birth: Umbilical cord blood (please
call Genetrack to arrange for testing prior to date of birth). |

Testing after Birth: Venous Blood or Buccal
Cells. Please contact Genetrack directly to arrange appointments.

Cost and Funding
Paternity testing is not covered by MSP. The GST is exempt if the
test is required for a medical reason (e.g. relief of stress and
anxiety due to uncertainty about parentage, determination of parentage
for family involvement and support). A physician's referral is required
for tax exemption.
